 Statement by Uvais Akhmadov

Our office has received a letter from Uvais Akhmadov, stating among other things, the following:
My associates and I wholeheartedly support the suggestion by the Chairman of the Sharia Committee Farouk Khasukhanov about creating an independent commission to analyse – in accordance with the Sharia – the current situation and resolve the differences among the followers of the Resistance movement.
I can state quite openly that for my associates and myself the only competent decision on the proclamation of the Caucasus Emirate would be the decision based in Allah’s Sharia, rather than the private opinions of Udugov Movladi and Umarov Isa who have claimed quite openly in the presence of witnesses that religion for them is a convenient means of seizing power. For us Allah’s religion is not a method of achieving dirty political goals but a way of life and a guiding principle both in times of peace and in times of war! When discussing the issue of defending or abolishing the Chechen statehood, we are only happy to listen to the opinion of true scholarly alims, the experts in Sharia, and not Astemirov Anzor who is nothing more than a student dropout.
I consider it vital to bring to the attention of all interested parties the fact that I reject with contempt and indignation the many attempts by various Emirate’s ideologues to cast doubt over the iman and the purity of aspirations of thousands of Chechen mujahadeen, including my brothers and my friends who died for the love of Allah, defending their country, their people and their state – the Chechen Republic of Ichkeriya – from the Russian occupants. They have all become immortal shakhids on the direct route to Allah (insh’ Allah!) despite the spiteful hissing of the manifest and secret enemies of the Chechen statehood.
My associates and I are sure that the independent Chechen state of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeriya entirely agrees with the Koran and the Sunna of our Prophet (SAS). Nevertheless, we are ready to bow to the decision of the scholarly alims, the experts in Sharia, whatever their decision might be.
