Attempt on Alexander Litvinenko's life
CHECHENPRESS, 11 November 2006
As it became known from our sources in London, on November 1, 2006, certain Mario Scaramella invited Alexander Litvinenko, a well-known dissident and human rights activist, to a restaurant in London, under the pretext of passing him confidential information concerning the suspected murderers of Anna Politkovskaya. Several hours after this meeting, Mr. Litvinenko suffered from a severe poisoning by an unknown toxin. He was on the brink of death for several days afterwards. At the moment Mr. Litvinenko is hospitalized in a very bad condition.
The British police is investigating the incident.
Mario Scaramella is an Italian citizen. He is reported to maintain close business relations with deputy FSB director Kolmogorov and to have visited the FSB central office in Lubyanka several times.
As one of FSB leaders, Kolmogorov was responsible for the 'operative account' cases of both Litvinenko and Mikhail Trepashkin.
