| The
hero of our time - Kadyrov Jr.
The end of December is just the time for
divine tales. And although the genre is a bit out of the framework
of Vip.Lenta.Ru edition, the President of the Russian Federation
Vladimir Putin has empowered us with the authority to settle
the problem. On 29 December 2004, he consoled the orphan by
conferring the rank of the Hero of the Russian Federation
to Ramzan Kadyrov.
Most likely, from the biography of Ramzan
Kadyrov the future schoolchildren will have to learn his heroic
history. At least the candidature of Kadyrov Jr. is at all
points suitable for this purpose. Ramzan was born in 1976,
and was brought up in the family of Chechen mufti. When the
future Hero of Russia was 20, his father Akhmad Kadyrov declared
jihad against the RF. Kadyrov junior, to tell the truth, gave
a damn about anything – he, as a real hero, went in for boxing,
knowing that in healthy body only cab be strong spirit.
However, very soon the war came up on Ramzan
Kadyrov’s chosen path – in 1996 his father commissioned him
to carry out activities of his assistant and personal bodyguard.
Any Russian textbook will note the unusual filial devotion
of our personage. Ramzan was always with his father – no matter,
whose part Kadyrov-senior took, Ramzan was his “friend at
court”. From 1994 to 1998, Kadyrov-senior was Aslan Maskhadov’s
closest fellow-fighter. In those years, Ramzan obediently
served the cause of his father and Ichkeria. When in 1999
Akhmad Kadyrov became at variance with his companions-in-arms
and took the side of the federals, Ramzan also changed the
masters along with his father.
In 2000, Ramzan Kadyrov was offered a chance
to demonstrate the courage and heroism in favor of Russia.
At that time, his father became acting president of the Chechen
Republic which was under the uncertain control of Russia,
having lost the word “Ichkeria” in the name of the country.
The “favor” of Russia was expressed by “chechenization” of
the conflict going on in the territory of the republic. Actually,
the campaign was launched to resign from the Russian OMON
militiamen and servicemen the duty of killing the Chechen
separatists and impose it as a duty on the Chechen federals.
Akhmad Kadyrov was charged with the task to be the head of
such Chechens. As to his son, Ramzan became the head of the
president’s security service. It is considered now that for
four years Ramzan has managed to form the most influential
force structure.
It is not known what methods the Hero of
Russia used to achieve a success. According to the official
version, the main point is courage and honesty of the young
Chechen man, and – his devotion to Russia. The unofficial
version says that the squads headed by Kadyrov-junior have
become for the Chechens more terrible punishment than that
of the Russian soldiers and militiamen – serving Russia, Kadyrov’s
cutthroats tortured and kidnapped people using the skills
and habits gained from the separatists.
And really, Ramzan Kadyrov is known not
only for his military victories, but also for his ability
to carry out negotiations. For the years of his work, tens
of former supporters of Maskhadov have taken the side of the
federals and became members of the president’s security service.
Frankly speaking, there are rumors that sometimes Kadyrov’s
men kidnapped the members of families of those people. For
example, according to rumors, of course, one of such operations
was the surrender of the former “Defence Minister of Ichkeria”
Magomed Khambiyev in April 2004.
In any case, the activities of Ramzan’s
squads have become one of the factors that enabled the Russian
authorities regularly to announce about the stabilization
of the situation in Chechnya and even to hold the presidential
elections in October 2003. It is natural that Akhmad Kadyrov
won the election. However, the joy of the family did not last
long – on 9 May 2004, Kadyrov-senior was killed at the “Dinamo”
stadium during the celebration of the holiday in Grozny.
Distracted with the grief, Ramzan betook
himself to the only place where he could find consolation
– to the Kremlin to have an audience with the President of
Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The entire country watched
on TV, how the poor young man dressed in really orphan’s clothes
– in blue Adidas tracksuit, came to the Russian President.
Putin consoled him by giving the Star of the Hero of Russia.
However, this turned out to be insufficient.
Next attempt to take Ramzan out of the post-traumatic
depression was made on 10 May 2004, when he was appointed
the vice premier of the Chechen republic. But even this did
not work. When the Russian media informed the society about
the intention of the State Council and government of Chechnya
to apply to Putin with a request to allow 28-year-old Ramzan
to stand for the president of the republic, it became clear
that the young man was still suffering inconsolable grief.
Somehow to console Kadyrov-junior, Alu Alkhanov, a person
nominated by Ramzan Kadyrov was elected president of the republic
in August 2004. Nevertheless, Ramzan seemed to be inconsolable.
It was a wasted labor to appoint Ramzan
Kadyrov councilor of the president’s envoy. His conduct during
the whole fall showed that Ramzan was still in profound grief.
Although he regularly reported about detention and extermination
of a great many Mujahideen, delivered ultimatums to the separatists
and, as before, declared about the readiness of Maskhadov
to surrender to the federals, some new faint notes were heard
in his repertoire. It fell on Ramzan Kadyrov’s lot to present
the position of the Russian people with regard to the questions
allowing the authorities of Russian Federation to observe
neutrality.
For example, on 8 November 2004, Ramzan
declared that he, his squad and the entire Chechen people
are ready to take part in resolution of the conflict in South
Ossetia and his people would enter Tskhinvali on the very
first invitation of the Ossetian authorities. Also, in November
Ramzan promised to exterminate the Mujahideen in the Pankisi
Gorge, he only needed an order.
In other words, the main Chechen orphan
pretended to the influence on policy of the republic and even
on the fate of the entire Caucasus. This conduct is quite
understandable, as Kadyrov Jr. can be completely consoled
only in 4 years, when he is thirty-two and Alkhanov’s term
of office expires, and the “heir-at-law” comes to power in
Chechnya.
In the meantime, Putin will have to keep
an eye on Ramzan Kadyrov, he should be vigilant not to allow
the young Chechen unexpectedly to change his political convictions
and show courage and heroism not in favor of the Russian administration,
but against it. The Star of the Hero of Russia is just the
right thing for this purpose.
